In a previous life as an engineer I took a business trip to Arizona in the US. Circumstances presented an unexpected opportunity to take a five day trip to Hawaii. It was magic! I've never experienced such a high energy place on earth before. Even the airport tarmac smelled of flowers instead of gasoline. Everyone was friendly and mellow in a way that suggested a different way of leading one's life, closer to nature, closer to oneself. I had a feeling I was presented with an alternative way of spending my time on this earth.
But of course I went back to work, back to my family and friends and life the way I knew it. Who wouldn't? We're all kinda trapped in our responsibilities and connections to other people and it's hard to free oneself in order to go live like a hippie on the other side of the world. I would be a dreamer, a surf girl and a hobo if I did - at least in the eyes of society.
But imagine if. If I'd taken the decision to stay. What would have happened? Where would I be today? Who would I be? In any case: HERE NOW.
This song was played for the very first time live in our Live Livingroom streaming session on the 20th of September 2020. The funny sounding chords were given to me by my bass teacher André Nendza to make a song out of: A#11 onto Gm7. The refrain moves on to sunnier chords but I did my homework, the song starts with those spooky sounds.
