From the recording Completely Different
After Donald Trump was elected president in the USA, I felt like the world and its politics had turned into a circus, into pure entertainment that appals us but keeps us entertained. My thoughts went to the ancient Romans who knew to keep people from starting a revolution by keeping them fed and entertained.

Lazily following the news
Swallowing the dread, but we’re all amused
It’s like the circus’s come to town
We’re caught up in the landslide of human nature
Everyone’s surprisingly tame
as long as they are
Fat, fed and entertained
Bread and games to sweeten the pain
gimme sugar, baby
Fat, fed and entertained
He only sees what he wants to believe
He doesn’t wanna know, only disagree
He just found some belief to hang on to
Caught up in the landslide of human nature
Everyone’s surprisingly tame
as long as they are
Fat, fed and entertained
Bread and games to sweeten the pain
gimme sugar, baby
Fat, fed and entertained
It's not the end of the world at all
It's only the end for us
The world will go on just the same,
only we shan't be in it.
Everyone’s depressingly lame
As long as we are fat, fed and entertained
Bread and games to sweeten the pain
Gimme sugar baby, oh, gimme sugar
The world may be about to end
We’re living on the edge but we still pretend
Bread and games to sweeten the pain
gimme sugar, baby - fat fed and entertained
